Freeze the Puck on Cancer
On January 21, 2017, the University of Michigan chapters of Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Kappa Psi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) came together for yet another exciting year of charity hockey matchups in the 3rd Annual Freeze the Puck on Cancer event. This year's Freeze the Puck event also included Sorority broomball games of Alpha Phi v. Delta Delta Delta and Alpha Chi Omega v. Sigma Kappa. All proceeds of the event went toward the American Cancer Society.
In the opening matchup, Sigma Phi Epsilon defeated PIKE. In the main event, FIJI faced off versus Phi Kappa Psi for another intense matchup. In last year's contest, FIJI outmatched Phi Kappa Psi in a 4-3 shootout victory. This year's matchup was a very defensive battle, with a score of 0-0 at the end of regulation time. In the overtime shootout, freshman Jon Theros scored a beautiful game-winning goal, making it FIJI's third year in a row of winning.
